Last appointment at dr. Deom

Date: Today • Hour: 8:30 (actually, I was waiting a while as I wasn't her first patient) • Place: 1000 Brussels • Duration: Approximately half an hour

At first, walking back home, I was still in a shock, and then in a slightly angry disbelief, now I'm just plain sad... and recovering my powers, self-esteem & positive determination. For sure, there are quite some things more humiliating than experiencing the raw power doctors execute over patients, and also let you feel it straight into your face, but there aren't many situations in life when one feels more powerless and as without options as when a doctor, no matter the reason, doesn't agree with you or your (sound) request.

She was reading both endocrinologist reports she's got (the one we've both got yesterday from Parc Leopold, and the one she's got from St. Luc recently). Both with the same suggestion: removal of at least right thyroid lobe with nodule & immediate lab examination during operation whether to leave the left lobe in or not; and if I don't want to be operated soon, to at least undergo my nodule biopsy and supervise the matter regularly.

I repeated that I wish to keep my thyroid, therefore my juice fasting cure. She went up (literally) in a total disagreement with my fasting cure (first time so strong & without patience); labeled me completely irresponsible because of it, but also while I refuse the operation and biopsy; and continued with "and when your cold nodule will become cancerous - which is the case in 15 % - it will be our/doctors' fault". Hudo! That sounded so Slovenian!

Ugh... Did she completely forget that nobody, none of the specialists ever said I'd need to undergo the operation immediately or as soon as possible, therefore I rightly assume I have at least 42 days, even some more left, for my "alternative, holistic, experimenting... whichever disposal". Sometimes ego really messes up with us. Ugh...

I reassured her that this was my body, and that fasting was my decision, therefore there wouldn't be somebody else to blame. Maybe I should have offered to sign something to seal it... "I will do all I know & feel doing in order to keep my thyroid without guests (aka nodules), functioning well, intact & inside of me. I don't bluntly refuse biopsy, but I've decided to postpone all medical check-ups (apart of blood & blood pressure check-ups) until end of my cure & the result of first ultrasound check-up afterwards."

Unbelievable! I find it appalling that a simple iron & vitamin D levels check-up gets denied to me only because my physician doesn't agree with my juice fasting cure!!! Despite all the arguments for both, including the most important one - they haven't been checked since mid May, and at that time, iron was low and vitamin D was still far below minimum levels! And since, there were quite some fruit & veggie juices into my body, some vitamin D and fish oil supplements, as well as sunbathing whenever possible... "You can't decide what kind of check-up you will have, you are not a doctor!" Period. Grrrr...

I wonder whether she'll remember that she was the one who scheduled my blood sampling today, to recheck my protein & other levels... Hopefully, she'll indeed request at least all thyroid parameters to be checked (she only took one tube of my blood) since I've reminded her that my thyroid story was the reason for my fasting cure, and I've told her again that for few days, I feel that something is going on in my neck...

Moreover, when I made a remark that already & even Hippocrates advocated fasting, her reply was: "That was many centuries ago." That's for sure an ego talk, and I rather didn't push it further by asking whether she takes seriously more than 2.400 years old Hippocratic oath by which she sworn to practice medicine ethically, and do no harm...

To conclude, when I was paying for her "consultation", she sarcastically asked me whether there are some doctors somewhere that I know of, who prescribe and accompany this fasting cure I was on... "I'm sure there are. And there's at least Buchinger's clinic in Germany where one can do it if one can afford it or wish to be supervised etc., one in Philippines... C'mon, juice fasting isn't something new, there are zillion sources about it, Breuss Cure included! At the beginning of my cure, I've told her also about Lojze Peterle, Slovenian MEP, who got completely rid of prostate cancer with this cure, which he recently documented in a book, as well as he founded MEPs Against Cancer.

You know what strikes me most, over and over? That, in general, they're not even slightly interested into anything holistic & out of their world of conventional medicine! And if you're not complying with their suggestions, allopathic solutions for your health issue & medicines they prescribe you, you are... Drop it, Aida!

Medical doctors, you really & often behave as being All-Knowing-And-Infallible-Gods, and the only source of wisdom. But you definitively aren't; proven many many times. The last portion of my idealism - that doctors are there to support us, our health, and our optimal well-being - has definitely evaporated, has gone with Brussels wind today...

And now, I need to realign into my growing belief that we are capable to cure ourselves by changing our thoughts, our attitudes, and our actions. All by ourselves. With undeniable help of "the best doctors in the world: Doctor Diet, Doctor Quiet, and Doctor Merryman" (by J. Swift).
